Founded in 2001 as a privately owned, venture capital backed business, they are headquartered in Milpitas, California. NEC took a stake in the business in September 2008. This company has proven interworking with femtocell vendor Ubiquisys and has live deployments for dual-mode WiFi systems such as BT Fusion. Combined with Ubiquisys, Kineto Wireless products form a cornerstone of the standard femtocell solution which NEC install and integrate for operators. Their UMA software stack has been licenced by several handset vendors for use in dual mode WiFi/GSM phones. In this slideshow, Steve Shaw, VP Marketing, outlines the business case and current status update for femtocell market from a UMA perspective.
