Safe-Net Logo Founded in 1983, Safe-Net is a leading provider of IPsec technology. It has over 1000 employees and a revenue of $300 million.

For femtocells, the company provides IPsec hardware and software toolkits which OEMs can incorporate into their products.

In its simplest application, software runs on the main CPU, encrypting and decrypting the data streams sent between the femtocell and the femto gateway.

IPsec processing can take significant CPU power. Offloading the workhorse processing for this frees up the main CPU for other tasks and reduces power consumption. Safe-Net provide a combination of  hardware design which can be incorporated into the silicon for single chip solutions, and a software toolkit to drive it.

This application note describes the solution in more detail.
