NEC announced they would provide "friendly user" femtocell trials in February 2009 (NEC as the system integrator using Kineto Femtocell Gateway and Ubiquisys Femtocell Access Points). This is a 3G UMTS femtocell connected to the standard GSM/UMTS core network using the Iu interface. FTTH (Fibre to the Home) is common in Denmark, and this would allow the full high speed 3G data performance to be achieved. TDC indicated that their timetable to launch a full scale commercial product could be towards the end of 2009, subject to the success of the trials.
